Body Mass Index (BMI)

BMI Calculator

Knowing BMI can help adult men and women understand their overall health. Use the BMI calculator below to determine your body mass index by inputting your height and weight.

People say if you train in the gym the BMI can be misleading. I can agree to some degree. Because if you lift weights, look lean and weight more then according to BMI reading you might fall into the obese category even if you don’t look like. The problem is if you exceed your body weight massively. For example being 180cm tall and weighting 125kg, and even if this is pure muscle, from the look of it you won’t be obese but your BMI will put you in this category regardless. But even if you don’t look obese, this amount of weight will be quite demanding for you heart to pump the blood around your body. What I am saying is, being too heavy but lean doesn’t make your obese, but it is not necessary healthy.

Please treat the BMI reading just as the indicator where you are comparing your body weight to your height.
